Volunteers Needed!
August 30, 2009
Reminder
Dear Members of the ASHAR Family,
As we prepare for the upcoming school year, the administration, staff, PTA and Board of Directors are busy planning a year of fun, educational and enriching events for our children, starting with Family Fun Day on Sunday, September 6 th . There are elements of the plan, however, that we need help with, and those are PARENT INVOLVEMENT and PARENT VOLUNTEERS.
We strongly feel that parent volunteers are critical not just for the man-hours they provide, but more importantly for the connection the parent volunteer makes with the ASHAR community. Parents who get involved also tend to feel more connected to and have a better experience with ASHAR. What better way to express your commitment to your children and your community?
The PTA has already sent out its request for volunteers and the Administration and Staff will be making such requests throughout the year. We urge you to proactively make yourselves known as willing and able to help. Please step forward to the teachers and the Administration and offer your help; don't wait to be asked.
The Board of Directors also needs help, specifically with work on the following committees:
-
-
Dinner/Journal
- Alumni/Fundraising
- Public Relations
It bears mentioning that this year, each of these committees is required to involve non-board member parents in their work. This accomplishes three things: It opens up the important work that the committees are doing to the general parent population, it results in better and more work on behalf of the ASHAR community and, most importantly, it helps to identify the next generation of ASHAR leaders and Board Members.
Please consider which committee(s) you can best assist and email me at michaelsilvermintz@gmail.com . I will pass your names on to the committees, who will then call upon you for assistance. Of course, we will try to accommodate your area of interest or expertise, but please understand that your help may be needed elsewhere. Also, the need for volunteers may vary with the flow of events and the time of year, so please be patient (but remain excited!!!).
We look forward to your involvement in making the ASHAR experience as fun and as meaningful as possible for our children, our parents and our community.
Thank you. Chairman
Michael Silvermintz
