Home » About Us » Our Facility Our FacilityLocated on six picturesque acres of land, our building features a preschool wing, and separate floors for the boys' and girls' classes with additional rooms dedicated to our specialty programs.
Our Computer Lab features 25 networked student computers featuring the Microsoft Office Suite of programs as well as many other educational tools. In addition, our lab has state-of-the-art audio visual presentation equipment to facilitate the learning process. Students gain practical knowledge and hands-on experience of all these tools as they use them to successfully complete inter-disciplinary projects. Our computer teacher, Mrs. Donna Monticello, oversees our lab.
Our Art Room allows our students to spread out and create! With access to many different art media, our resident artist, Ms. Lauren Walling, walks her classes through the techniques of the great artists of the past, as well as guiding our artists of the future.
The ASHAR Library is located on the second floor of our building, and contains informational books to facilitate conducting research as well as books of fiction to enjoy. There is an area for children to sit and read quietly and for the librarian to read aloud from popular children's books. In addition, grades 1-8 have extensive (and growing!) classroom libraries filled with carefully selected books.
The Science Lab is located on the top floor and is utilized only by the upper grades science teachers. There are computers there, lab-style tables with sinks, whiteboards for teaching, and science libraries. It is a space conducive to conducting science experiments. Our FOSS (Full Options Science System) modules are kept there, as well as materials for experiments.
Recognizing the importance of physical activity and the need for student to release energy throughout the day (and in any weather!), ASHAR is proud of our large, versatile gym where students can play basketball, hockey, and other sports. During recess you can find our older students playing basketball on our courts, which are adjacent to our outdoor playground. Our students utilize the outdoor playground during recess, when they can enjoy playing on the swing sets, climbing on jungle gyms, and gathering with their friends.
Our preschoolers have a fabulous, unique indoor playground so that inclement weather is never a concern. They are able to play on the large gym set, learn about cooperative play, and enjoy their free time.
Since the fire (February 12, 2008) that destroyed our auditorium/lunchroom and beit medrash, our gym has also served as a multi-purpose room and is now also utilized as a place for eating lunch, davening, and for special programs that need a larger space than a classroom. We will keep you posted of further developments regarding the building as they become available.
