Ms. Lauren Walling
The art curriculum at ASHAR follows the guidelines set by NY State. The four primary principles include: creating, exploring materials, responding and analyzing finished works and understanding cultural contexts. She addresses these principles through an interdisciplinary approach that includes a wide range of material studies ranging from hand crafts to fine art painting. In addition to the art curriculum, she also teaches after school classes in sewing, silk screening and painting and runs a 3 week intensive studio art camp during the month of August.
Lauren Walling has been teaching Art and Art History at ASHAR since 2007. She has a BA from Wells College, an MAR in Religious Studies and Art History from Yale Divinity School and is currently in a graduate program for Art Education at Teachers College, Columbia University.
