Bio: Mrs. Donna Monticello is a graduate of Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck with a degree in Elementary Education. She has taught Second Grade and has over 25 years experience in computer technology.  She has worked for Panasonic and Equitable Life as a computer trainer for adults and as a network administrator. As an employee of the ComputerTots company she has taught Computer Engineering Classes to elementary school students at the Gifted Child Society and had been a Computer Technology teacher at a private elementary school in New Jersey. This is Mrs. Monticello's 7th year as ASHAR's computer teacher. Mrs. Monticello is also the Site Manager for the SuccessMaker program used by students in grades 1-3.

ComputerTots and SuccessMaker

The ASHAR Computer Lab is equipped with Dell computers running Microsoft Windows 7, a projection system, color, black and white printer, scanner and digital camera. Each computer contains Internet access with appropriate parental controls.

All students in Grades PreK-4 through 8 receive formal computer instruction once a week from ComputerTots. In each computer class, students complete a variety of school related and seasonal projects and learn and review the following computer skills:
Keyboarding:Type to Learn, Jr. (Grades K-3), Type to Learn 3 (Grades 4-8)
Word Processing/SlideShow/Graphs/Database: Kid Pix (Grades K-1) Microsoft Office 2010 (Grades 2-8)
Digital Photography: Adobe PhotoElements, Digital Camera/Scanner
Research: Internet Explorer/Firefox

Additionally, students in Grades 1-3 visit the computer lab twice a week to reinforce Language Arts and Math skills using SuccessMaker.
