Admissions

ASHAR's Early Childhood Program offers full- and part-day programs for Nursery (3-year-olds), Pre-Kindergarten (4-year-olds) and Kindergarten (5-year-olds).

For admission to Nursery, a child must be three-years-old by December 31st of the academic year for which admission is requested.  Children who turn three after October 1st will be accepted to Nursery with the understanding that he/she must remain in Nursery for the following school year as well.

For admission to Pre-Kindergarten, a child must be four-years-old by October 1st of the academic year for which admission is requested.

For admission to Kindergarten, a child must be five-years-old by October 1st of the academic year for which admission is requested.

All children grades Nursery through Kindergarten will be admitted on the basis of an application, interview, and assessment of academic, social and developmental readiness for the ASHAR Early Childhood Program. In some cases, additional screening may be required. All children must be fully toilet trained to be eligible for admission to ASHAR's Early Childhood Program.

Admission to grades 1-5 (Elementary) or grades 6-8 (Middle School) will be granted on the basis of an application, interview, full academic assessment and previous educational experience. In addition, all transfer students are required to submit a recent Educational / Psychological assessment.

ASHAR is proud of the diversity of strengths demonstrated by our student body, and of our ability to serve students with a wide range of abilities, including gifted students and those with learning disabilities. ASHAR students can also benefit from a variety of on-site support services provided through the East Ramapo Central School District.

However, ASHAR is not equipped to accommodate those students who demonstrate severe grade-level deficiencies or severe behavioral problems. We will assist in referrals for alternate school placements.

ASHAR does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, ethnic or national origin. As a Modern Orthodox Yeshiva, ASHAR is open to all Halachically Jewish students.
