Mindy Sugar Reifer began her career in education as a student aide for mainstreamed special-needs children before working as a classroom teacher. While teaching various levels of middle school math and history, she perfected her craft as an ELA instructor and teacher mentor, focusing her class lessons and curriculum development on critical thinking, core comprehension, and writing skills. Together with Mrs. Fayga Ringel, a special education teacher with the East Ramapo School District, she co-created The Write Approach: Direct Instruction for Structured Writing, a multi-sensory writing program that trains teachers in the best practices for writing instruction. The Write Approach has been implemented in more than ten schools across three states. While continuing to serve the greater education community in teaching practices and curriculum implementation, Mrs. Reifer is currently the Assistant Principal of General Studies at ASHAR.
